The Desk

Usually the primary products such as a pen, chair, desk , light and bed, and they have, or we have a basic idea of their form, for example, desk has a four or three legs and one flat panel on the legs. Nobody can imagine exactly same form, same color, and same material, but everyone might imagine those basic ideas. I think those products are necessary and integrated into our everyday life. This reading reminds me that daily product, which is an element of the life can be changeable to variety of form and altered to suit each environment. I could see a kind of derivation beyond one of common product, desk. Also this article shows desk has been changing its form and adding functions suiting each environment, every time when new technology come into our world, the desk also has changed such as the desk which has the place for the computer. However, one thing that I'm interested is the product which is not the desk, but it's related between desk and human, Personal Skies by Naoto Fukasawa. I have an opinion about it, one is this challenging affects to the products which suit to the technology. Many of desks are well thought about how the user use the desk through their purpose. However, Personal Skies is focused on the emotion of the user using the projector, and this gives a mellow feeling or relaxation to the user. I think, the psychological effect is a new root of design the desk. Through the reading, one says the desk memorizes what the user did, the other says the desk could be a multipurpose and be in anywhere. Then I thought, what the people feel beyond their purpose, I felt there's something losing and this could be one of design topic.
